Fair Maiden Polish: Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Good afternoon, dear readers, and happy hump day! I had hoped to get this post up a little earlier in the day, but my toddler had other plans for me. I had shared a sneak peek photo on Instagram earlier today of one of the polishes in this post, and I am looking forward to presenting more shades and all the details (plus a discount code!!!) with you all today. Fair Maiden Polish is a brand spankin' new indie line that has just launched with their inaugural collection, Be Your Own Heroine. Adrienne and Sarah are the creative masterminds behind the brand, and they have provided me with a few shades from this collection to share with you. Let's check out the colours!

Let Your Hair Down
Indoor Lighting
Sunlight
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!

I really wanted to start this post with Let Your Hair Down because this was the first polish I unwrapped, and I was very impressed with what I saw in the bottle. I feel like a lot of indie makers start out their holographic shades very simple- they add pigment with spectraflair or one of the spectraflair alternatives and call it a day. The final result is pretty, but it's hard for me to get excited about that. What made Let Your Hair Down stand out to me is the added complexity of purple shimmer to the holo base, and that tells me these girls aren't messing around. I need my holos to have that something extra, and this did not disappoint! The formula was really nice and smooth, and I used two easy coats for these photos.

Once Upon a Dream
I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream....

Be glad that I write my blog posts rather than being a vlogger! Ha! Sleeping Beauty is one of my favorite fairytales, and I could listen to this song on repeat and sing it often, loudly, and VERY off key. Once Upon a Time is one of those shades of pink that I feel I can't quite pull off, so please try to look past my skin tone and focus on the colour itself. Once Upon a Time is filled with gorgeous golden shimmer that sparkles when in the light. As much as I loathe glare in my pictures, I could not capture the gold without it. The formula was great, and I used three coats for these photos.

Magic Carpet Ride
I can show you the world, shining shimmering splendid! Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide?

You guys have no idea how hard it is to write this post without loudly belting out these songs! Magic Carpet Ride is another great shade in this collection. Just look at those flakes! I LOVE LOVE LOVE flakes in polish, and these ones give off hints of pink when you shift your nails in the light. I was really excited when I first saw this beauty! The light turquoise base lends itself well to warmer skin tones like mine, and it might be my favorite of all the polishes in this post. I used three smooth coats for these swatch photos.

Change Your Fate
Sorry, no song or quote is jumping out to me for this one! I feel like the theme of changing your fate is common in a lot of fairytales, and I'm not entirely sure what the inspiration was for the name. Whatever it might be, the colour is beautiful! There is so much shimmer in different colours in the blue-green base, you can easily get lost staring at it. The formula of Change Your Fate was also really nice, and I used two smooth coats for these photos.

Fairy Godmother
over Orly Lucky Duck
Bibbity Bobbity Boo!

With an inspiration of a fairy godmother, what else would you expect other than a holo topcoat? Fairy Godmother goes on nice and smooth over your favorite shade to transform your polish into one with a holographic finish. You're going to want to paint your nails with a light hand as Fairy Godmother does give a silvery finish to whatever colour you use underneath it. This is to be expected with holo topcoats and the final result is still stunning. I wish I had a sunlight photo to share with you but the sun decided to play a game of peek-a-boo that I clearly lost. I used one coat over Lucky Duck for these photos. The layer over my pinky was the slightest bit heavier than the rest of my fingers, so you may notice it is a little more silvery. I had no trouble with the formula as it applied easily for me.

I am really excited about these shades from Fair Maiden Polish! There are other colours in their premier collection, and you should definitely check them out! Magic Carpet Ride is arguably my favorite because of my weakness for flakes, but all the colours I tried were beautiful and the formulas superb.

You can buy these and the other shades from Fair Maiden Polish here. Adrienne and Sarah have created a special discount code for you all, my dear readers, and you can save 20% through November 30th by using the promotional code JW20. How cool is that?!? You can also follow them on Facebook here and Instagram here.

What do you think of the polishes in this collection? What are your must haves? I'd love to hear from you!

Until next time, dear readers, have a wonderful day!
XO!
